Hyundai cars are equipped with generators of an alternating current. Depending on model and updating generators of various capacity can be established. The capacity is specified on the identification plate of the generator.
The generator with the built-in regulator of tension is included into system of a charging of the storage battery which turns on the storage battery and a control lamp with conducting.
The generator is equipped with six built-in diodes (three "positive" and three "negative"), reformative an alternating current in the constant. Therefore through a conclusion "In" the generator the direct current stands out.
Besides, tension of a current of a charging developed by the generator is regulated by the monitoring system of tension of the storage battery. The main components of the generator are the rotor, a stator, the vypryamitelny block, brushes, bearings and a pulley of a belt drive. In a shchetkoderzhatel the electronic regulator of tension is built in.

       PREVENTION
At installation of the additional equipment check, whether there is enough capacity of the former generator; if necessary establish more powerful the generator and the battery.

The generator is actuated from a cranked shaft through maple a belt. The generator rotor with a winding of excitement rotates in a motionless winding of a stator with the frequency twice exceeding frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft of the engine.
On coal brushes and contact rings of the generator through a winding of excitement the excitement current proceeds. The magnetic field is created.
The provision of a magnetic field in relation to a stator winding constantly changes according to the direction of rotation of a rotor. Thanks to it in a winding of a stator the alternating electric current is developed.
As the storage battery can be charged by only a direct current, the alternating current will be transformed in constant in the rectifier on a diode payment of the generator. The regulator of tension changes a charging current inclusion and switching off of a current of excitement depending on degree of a zaryazhennost of the battery. At the same time the regulator of tension supports tension of the battery constant, equal 14 In irrespective of frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft of the engine.

Security measures at repair and generator service
Before performing any works on system of a charging of the storage battery, it is necessary to familiarize with the following security measures.
At works with elements of system of electric equipment in a motor compartment surely disconnect a "weight" cable from the negative plug of the storage battery.

       PREVENTION
At a wire detachment from the negative plug of the storage battery data from memory of the electronic control unit of system of injection and a protective code of a radio receiver are erased. If the radio receiver is coded, before shutdown it is necessary to be convinced that to you the protective code is known. Without it after food connection the receiver will not turn on.

Do not mix cables of a regulator of tension and the generator. Before shutdown mark them with a sticky tape.
Do not disconnect the storage battery or a tension regulator at the working engine.
Do not remove the generator at the connected storage battery.
At carrying out electrowelding works surely disconnect the storage battery.

Check of a technical condition of the generator

The scheme of check of power failure on a target wire of the generator is shown on fig. 7.4 .
Check is carried out for determination of serviceability of a wire between a conclusion "In" the generator and the plug «+» the storage battery on power failure on a wire.
Establish a key in the ignition lock in the situation "OFF" it (is switched off).

       NOTE
For determination of reliability of connections of a wire at check do not touch both conclusions and their connection.

Attach a plusovy wire («+») the digital voltmeter to a conclusion "In" the generator, and a minus wire («–») the voltmeter to the plug «+» the storage battery.
Indications of the voltmeter read out at the working engine, the included headlights, the electrofan of salon and other consumers of the electric power.
Tension on the voltmeter should be 14 Century.
If the measured tension differs on 0,3 In, it indicates malfunction of conducting. Check the wires connecting a conclusion "In" the generator through a fusible insert to the plug «+» of the storage battery.
Check conducting on weakening of connections or change of color of a wire from an overheat. Eliminate malfunction and repeat check.
After check let's to the engine work idling, then switch off headlights, the electrofan of salon and other consumers of energy, switch off ignition.

Check of a current of return of the generator
Check is carried out for the purpose of determination of compliance of a current of return of the generator to nominal rate.

The scheme of check of a current of return of the generator is shown on fig. 7.5 .
Before check execute the following checks and if necessary eliminate malfunctions.
Check serviceability of the storage battery established on the car.

       NOTE
At check of a current of return of the generator the storage battery should be partially discharged. At completely charged battery the result of check will be inexact because of insufficient loading of the generator.

Check a tension of a belt of a drive of the generator.
Establish the ignition key in the situation "OFF" it (is switched off).
Disconnect a wire from the "minus" plug of the storage battery.
Disconnect a wire from a conclusion "In" the generator.
Attach the ampermeter of a direct current (with a limit of measurements 0–100 And) it is consecutive to a conclusion "In" and to the disconnected target wire of the generator. A wire from a conclusion «–» the ampermeter attach to the disconnected target wire.

       NOTE
Because of a big current reliably tighten both connections. Do not use crocodile type clips.

Attach the voltmeter (with a limit of measurements 0–20 In) to a conclusion "In" and "weight": a "plusovy" wire («+») the voltmeter — to a conclusion "In" the generator, and a "minus" wire («–») – it is reliable to "weight".
Attach a tachometer for control of frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft of the engine, attach a wire from the negative plug of the battery.
Leave a cowl open.
Be convinced that the voltmeter shows tension of the storage battery. If the voltmeter shows 0, the possible reasons are a wire breakage between a conclusion "In" the generator and the plug «–» batteries, a peregoraniye of a fusible insert or bad connection with "weight".
Start up the engine and include headlights.
Include a driving beam of headlights and the heater fan on the highest speed, sharply increase frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft to 2500 mines -1 and fix on the ampermeter the maximum current of return of the generator.
The indication of the ampermeter should exceed maximum permissible value (see below). If it is lower at a serviceable target wire of the generator, remove the generator from the car and check it.
Maximum permissible current of return of the generator, And, not less:
generator 70 A..... 49,0
generator 90 A..... 63,0

       NOTE
The nominal rate of a current of return is specified on the plate fixed on a casing of the generator therefore the current value of a current of return can differ from the nominal. In this case include headlights to discharge the storage battery.

Upon termination of check of a current of return reduce frequency of rotation of the engine to idling and switch off ignition.
Disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the storage battery.
Disconnect the ampermeter, the voltmeter and a control tachometer.
Attach a target wire to a conclusion "In" the generator.
Attach a wire to the negative plug of the storage battery.

       NOTE
After engine start-up the charging current quickly decreases. For obtaining true maximum value of a current specified above operation it is necessary to carry out, spending as little as possible time.

Check of adjustable tension
The purpose of this check is check of operability of an electronic regulator of tension.

The scheme of check of work of the built-in regulator of tension is shown on fig. 7.6 .
Previously execute the following checks and if necessary eliminate malfunctions:
– check serviceability of the storage battery established on the car;
– check a tension of a belt of a drive of the generator.
Establish the ignition key in the situation "OFF" it (is switched off).
Disconnect a wire from the "minus" plug of the storage battery.
Attach the digital voltmeter to
to conclusion of "S (L)" of the generator and to "weight" (a "plusovy" wire («+») the voltmeter — to a conclusion of "S (L)" of the generator, and a "minus" wire of the voltmeter («–») – to the "minus" plug («–») the storage battery).
Disconnect a target wire of the generator from a conclusion "In".
Attach the ampermeter of a direct current (with a limit of measurements 0–100 And) it is consecutive to a conclusion "In" and to the disconnected target wire of the generator. A "minus" wire («–») the ampermeter attach to the disconnected target wire.
Attach a tachometer for control of frequency of rotation of the engine and attach a wire to the "minus" plug of the battery.
Include ignition and be convinced that the voltmeter shows tension of the storage battery. If the voltmeter shows 0, the reason is the rupture of a chain between a conclusion of "S (L)" of the generator and the "plusovy" plug («+») batteries or a peregoraniye of a fusible insert.
Start up the engine, switch off headlights and all consumers of the electric power.
Increase frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft approximately to 2500 mines -1 and fix the voltmeter indication at reduction of a current of return of the generator to 10 And or less.
If indications of the voltmeter correspond to the values specified in tab. 7.5, the regulator of tension is efficient.

If indications of the voltmeter differ from norm, the regulator of tension is faulty.
Upon termination of check reduce frequency of rotation of the engine before idling and switch off ignition.
Disconnect a wire from the "minus" plug of the storage battery.
Disconnect the voltmeter, the ampermeter and a control tachometer.
Attach a target wire to a conclusion "In" the generator.
Attach a wire to the "minus" plug of the storage battery.

The Remenny drive of the generator and the device of a tension of a driving belt are shown on fig. 7.7 .
Disconnect a wire from the "minus" plug of the storage battery.

Separate the generator socket (fig. 7.8) and disconnect a wire from a conclusion «In +».

Weaken an inhaling of a bolt of a tension level of a belt of a drive of the generator and unscrew a bolt of fastening of the generator (fig. 7.9) .
Remove a drive belt, having displaced the generator to pulleys of a cranked shaft and the water pump.

Remove the generator (fig. 7.10) .
Installation of the generator is carried out as it should be, the return to removal.
Establish the generator on a place and insert a fastening bolt (a nut of a bolt not to turn).

Displace the generator aside from the engine and define number of remote washers (thickness of a washer of 0,198 mm) which it is necessary to establish between a forward rack of a casing of the generator and a forward cover of the block of cylinders (a gap And on fig. 7.11 ). The number of washers should be such that they did not drop out at an otpuskaniye).
Establish washers (a gap And), wrap a nut of a bolt and execute other operations of installation.

The generator is shown on fig. 7.12 .
Dismantling
By means of a screw-driver uncover the generator from contact rings.

Remove a shchetkoderzhatel, having unscrewed fastening bolts (fig. 7.13) .
Remove the adjusting plug of contact rings.
Unscrew a nut of fastening of a pulley, remove a pulley and the remote plug.

Unscrew four coupling bolts (fig. 7.14) .
Rasstykuyte a cover from a drive, a rotor and a stator.
Assembly is carried out as it should be, the return to dismantling.
Check of a technical condition
Rotor. Check an integrity of a winding of a rotor. Check chain existence between contact rings. The lowest resistance of a chain between rings indicates existence of short circuit. In the absence of a chain between rings or short circuit between them replace a rotor.
Resistance should make about 3,1 Ohm.
Check an excitement winding on absence of short circuit on "weight". Be convinced of lack of a chain between contact rings and the rotor core. In the presence of a chain replace a rotor.
Stator. Check a stator winding on existence of breaks. Be convinced available chains between wires of conclusions of a winding. In the absence of a chain replace a stator.
Check a winding on absence of short circuit on "weight". Be convinced of lack of a chain between a winding and the core. In the presence of a chain replace a stator.
Replacement of brushes

Replace brushes at wear to the line of limiting wear (fig. 7.15) .
Otpayayte a brush wire, take out an old brush and a spring.
Insert a shchetochny spring and a new brush in a shchetkoderzhatel.
Insert a brush so that the distance between the line of limiting wear of a brush and an edge of a shchetkoderzhatel made 2–3 mm.
Solder a brush wire to a shchetkoderzhatel.
